Ascent GIS has applications!
Integrate GIS and enterprise database systems by using ArcIMS,
MapObjects, ArcObjects, and ArcSDE. These types of applications support
key business functions including:
Permitting
Billing
Infrastructure maintenance management
Property/asset management, etc.
Document management
Facilities management
Assessment and taxation
Emergency management
Land management
Land-use planning

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR (BLM),
Spokane, Washington, 2/2000-4/2000
GIS Technician -
Developed a spatial database for road and trail segments within parcels managed
by BLM using ArcView and the Spatial Analyst ext
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR (USGS),
Spokane, Washington, 8/99-5/2000
GIS Technician (Volunteer)
- Used ArcView and the Hydrologic Modeling, Spatial Analyst and other extensions
to improve the spatial representation of geochemical data derived from analysis
of stream sediment samples by tying the data to drainage basin geometry's rather
than sample locations. USGS Open File Report in preparation.
Currently investigating the possibility of using
Avenue to create an ArcView legend for use on digital geologic maps that will be
geologically consistent across large regions.
WASHINGTON STATE PARKS COMMISSION, Olympia, Washington, 9/99 - 2/2000
Technician (Volunteer) -
Used ArcView and the Image Analysis and Spatial Analyst extensions to examine
the feasibility of using GIS as a tool for managing Riverside State Park.
Located and acquired available data, assessed which data types were most usable,
created maps and examples of how the data could be used to answer questions that
require management decisions. Wrote and submitted a report to Park officials
with recommendations for further action.
ITRON, INC., Spokane, Washington, 1993 -
1999
Database Engineer - Responsible to software
developers for collecting/advising re: database schema requirements,
implementation, productization, and documentation. Develop UNIX shell and Oracle
SQL scripts for reporting system performance. Create and maintain development
database instances. Perform a wide variety of database duties as required.
GEOQUEST DATA MANAGEMENT, INC., Corte Madera, California, 1991-1993
Quality Control Manager - Devised and
implemented procedures to test oil and gas exploration software and report test
results used to make strategic business decisions. Supervised four engineers
responsible for writing tests and testing new software releases.
· Designed and implemented testing process for large, complex application which
resulted in 20% increase in defects found and corrected prior to product
release.
· Created scripts to efficiently generate test data to enable testing of
software in highly controlled data environment.
· Wrote database reports to facilitate data access, resulting in improved
interdepartmental communications and more efficient operations.
FINDER GRAPHICS SYSTEMS, INC., Corte Madera, California, 1990- 1991
Customer Support/Documentation
Supported customers with unusually difficult or
time-critical problems. Reviewed and wrote documentation and worked with
engineers and customers to specify, design, document, and test applications.
· Reproduced/described customer problems to
facilitate efficient reproduction and correction by engineering, saving an
estimated $100,000 annually.
· Assisted customers in "working around" problems to allow them to get their
work done, resulting in restored confidence and user satisfaction.
· Wrote User, System Administration, and Database Administration manuals and
documented eight new applications.
· Assisted in design of software defect database and supervised transfer of more
than 2,000 existing defect cases into new system.
SYBASE, INC., Emeryville, California, 1989-1990
Technical Support Manager
Supervised and trained technical support
analysts and interacted with customers. Performed work flow analyses to evaluate
support effectiveness and quality of Sybase relational database products and
made procedural changes accordingly.
· Managed seven technical support analysts
providing 24-hour a day phone support for mission-critical software.
· Created database applications and procedures to provide metrics for technical
support program and personnel evaluation decision support.
· Supervised three trainers responsible for training new analysts in shortest
possible time, thereby maximizing use of human resources.
· Maximized efficiency of case-handling application, resulting in improved
morale, better record keeping, and shorter case closure times.
Wrote functional specifications for exploration
workstation software, performed customer support and training, and wrote
documentation.
· Worked with customers and engineers to ensure
that functional and user interface specifications for new software applications
met customer's needs.
· Created product demonstrations keyed to customer's needs and data.
· Made presentations and trained users in U.S., Europe, Middle East, and
Australia.
· Chaired committee to establish user interface standards for product.
Responsible for geophysical aspects of project
design, for acquisition and interpretation of data, and presentation of results
orally and as interim and final project reports.
· Designed projects which met client's needs, resulting in high proposal
acceptance rate and accurate time, resource, and materials estimates.
· Wrote programs to display and interpret data, resulting in lower drafting and
interpretation expenses and effective project deliverables.
· Acquired and reviewed all relevant literature and data as basis for writing
project proposals and specifying data collection parameters.
